Dear Brothers Kanter:

I have received an e-mail from you which seems to imply I owe you money. I have never purchased from your find company. I do admire your love of Packards and your hard work to insure that Packard owners have your business to rely upon when parts for their cars are needed. I know it take a lot of dedication and hard work.

You have explained the problem with your photograph postings and I thank you for that information and I look forward to a return to photographs in your postings in the future.

I am sure there must be some mistake regarding the suggestion I owe you money.

Sincerely,
Zougeride

Dear Tinman:

Re: Joe's '49 Club Sedan. Could you explain the modifications to the fuse panel so that I may copy your effort?

Again, I have enjoyed all of your postings on another forum.

Thanks for the caution, Don. Both cars are 740s, so the David M's should be the same dimensions as mine.

We don't have any 53 info specifically relating to AC on site other than what is in the parts and various servicing manuals.

One thing I would be curious to know is if there is any documentation to clarify when they changed from the flat louvers on the package shelf and went to or made available the clear plastic ducts as the other mfgs were using. Another question is did they keep the flat louvers standard both years with the clear ducts maybe a later dealer option. The 54 Pacific I had came with the flat louvers yet Packards1 mentioned some time back that years ago he had several of the clear ducts in his inventory.

The parts manual shows louvers with many different numbers for various set # colors and those numbers were used in both years. A separate later numbered bunch listed as used on 54 models also have variations in color. No indication as to which is louver style and which (if any) might be the clear duct.

When did Chrysler, Imperial offer factory A/C?
I looked it up 1953.

1953-1954 PACKARD AC INFO REQUEST

7-16-17
I am writing an illustrated history of factory air conditioning, searching for 1953-1954 Packard literature.

Introduced at the end of the year with Frigidaire components, July 1, 1953, there might be an updated Data Book insert, or may be an owner's manual supplement, dealer or factory literature, etc.

There also might be Packard dealer installation information, similar to the dealer-installed 1953 Cadillac. (See attached)

Thanks,

Thanks OD for confirming that I am on the right track and haven't missed something obvious. I may have addressed the rich mixture with the choke adjustment. Going forward I'll read the plugs frequently.

I'm getting ready to start assembling the front sheetmetal on my Packard. There are an awful lot of parts involved, not including the fenders themselves. I'm going to try putting it together a piece at a time with the fenders last rather than all at once like at the factory. Probably test fit it to make sure I know where everything goes.
