happy 2012! (or, hey, take a look at some stuff i made in2011)

December 31, 2011 by gail

It’s been a pretty fruitful year for sewing. I made Lila a lot of clothes…that she mostly doesn’t wear. It’s okay, I had fun making them (or selecting the fabric at least), and each garment improved my sewing skills as well as my confidence to tackle whatever I wanted to make next.

This was my first time playing around with Mosaic Maker, and I couldn’t stop at one. Or two. So I separated my photos into Oliver + S clothing, other kid clothing, and just plain other. And then the clothes are in chronological order over on Flickr, just as an excuse to make another mosaic.

As it turns out, there was a decent amount of Oliver + S sewing going on this year. Here’s a sampling:

Next up: more kiddie clothes.

And I made some non-clothing items, too. I know the invites are a stretch, but there was a sewing machine involved…

I think my favorite project of the year was the Oliver + S baby carrier in the middle of the last mosaic. For some reason that thing still makes me smile every time Lila puts it on.

Hope everyone has a very happy 2012!

What a productive year of sewing you’ve had! Such beautiful clothes – your Lila is one stylish little girl:) (though probably is too young to fully appreciate all your effort yet – but all we blog followers do!!). I have a hard time picking a favorite outfit. Do you have a hard time, like me, tucking away the handmade clothes when Lila outgrows them? Over here that leads to some overly small clothes being worn longer than they should:)
Looking forward to seeing what 2012 brings forth from your sewing endeavors! Thanks so much for sharing your creations.

Hi Gail, what a productive year of sewing you’ve had! You’re blog is very inspiring and I’ve read your posts with pleasure – thank you. I made a hobo sack for a ribbon taggie I’d made after you made one for the gorgeous onesies you appliqued. I came across your blog after searching for tips for sewing the oliver + s sailboat patterns. I bought the patterns last year after I made my first dress for my wee girl, I’ve traced them and now I need to get on and make them. I love the baby carrier. I got the Little Things to Sew book for Christmas so will add this to my list. Going to attempt the tutu first! I can’t wait to see your projects throughout 2012. I hope it’s a happy year for you and your lovely family.
