Do you love chocolate milk but don’t love the dairy or additives?

Well, you’re in luck!

Today we’re making a super simple chocolate almond milk recipe that’s going to sweep you off your feet!

Funnily enough, my introduction to chocolate milk didn’t come early in life.

In fact, I never had chocolate milk until moving to the US in 8th grade. It was one of the very first foods I ate in my new American school.

I can still remember that awkward feeling of walking in the cafeteria with a tray for the very first time. Something I’d never experienced before in Europe!

But that’s neither here or there…

Let’s trade middle school cafeteria chocolate milk for a proper one: only 4 real food ingredients, rich in antioxidants, completely Paleo friendly! I’m dairy free, so this is my absolute go-to.

My children, who love their raw milk, are all about this fantastic chocolate almond milk, too! The second I finish blending, little bodies line up at the counter, cups in hand.

A nice glass of chocolate milk satisfies young and old alike.

The best part about this chocolate milk is that you get to control every single ingredient.

I don’t know about you, but I’m often stunned by the amount of unpronounceable words listed on the back of a chocolate almond milk carton. We don’t want those in our bodies or our children’s bodies, so let’s get to making our own chocolate almond milk!

How do you make chocolate almond milk?

This chocolate almond milk is incredibly easy to make. Here’s what you need: homemade almond milk, cocoa powder, honey, and vanilla extract.

That’s it!

What equipment do you need for chocolate almond milk?

Besides a glass storage bottle, you need only a blender. It’ll give you a wonderfully rich, creamy, and frothy consistency.

Do you have to make your own almond milk?

This is entirely up to you! Unless you’re able to find a minimally processed almond milk, homemade is always best.

It’s actually super easy to make, too. You will need a nut milk bag, 1 cup of almonds, purified water, and a powerful blender.

Can you use cacao in place of cocoa powder?

You absolutely can! I’ve tried it both ways and it tastes fantastic whichever way you choose to make it.

The benefit of using raw cacao is that you’re getting the added dose of antioxidants!

Whenever possible, look for ethically sourced cacao. It will give you a nice rich taste, too!

What is the best honey to use for this homemade chocolate milk?

Raw, local honey is always best, however use the best you can!

I prefer using honey that’s on the runny side as it blends in perfectly with the almond milk and cocoa powder.

Can you store chocolate almond milk?

Absolutely! As long as you put the chocolate almond milk in an airtight glass bottle, you can store it in the refrigerator for about a week.

(Although, it’s likely going to be consumed well before then!)

Once you’re ready to drink it, give it a really good shake to mix all the ingredients back up. Then pour and enjoy.

This really is an incredibly easy and delicious recipe you can make any time of year! A nice glass of chocolate milk completely satisfies those chocolate cravings that strike so many of us at random times!
