Need a quick and easy dinner? This keto Asian salmon recipe is awesome and only takes 4 ingredients and 15 minutes to make. I like it because it’s low carb (4.3g net carbohydrates) and my family loves the spicy and sweet Asian flavors of the sugar free glaze. This is a healthy low carbsalmon dinner you will want to add to your weekly meal plan!

To me there is nothing better than a perfectly cooked piece of salmon. And now that my son loves salmon, I try to cook it more often.

Today I made some keto Asian salmon with a simple glaze using chili garlic sauce. It was spicy, salty and sweet and perfectly complemented the rich salmon.

My family really liked it which was great but the best thing was this fresh salmon recipe only took 15 minutes to make and had just 4.3g net carbohydrates. Salmon is great food to eat on a low carb diet and has such delicious flavor.

I have a lot of salmon recipes on my site. Fresh salmon is usually not very easy to find but now that Aldi has fresh fish I can get it whenever I want.

Recently I’ve madea lime margarita grilled salmon which was great for summer and my husband and son love brined smoked salmon all year long. They eat the leftovers on bagels in the morning. Both are delicious recipes to try.

The 3 ingredients for the Asian salmon glaze.

Below are the ingredients that I used to make the sugar free Asian salmon glaze. I just mixed soy sauce, chili garlic sauce and Swerve brown sugar sweetener together and brush salmon pieces before pan frying.

While I feel soy sauce is keto-friendly if you want to use an alternative you can coconut aminos. For more alternatives and info check out this article. Also I used regular soy sauce but you can also use low sodium soy sauce.

You might want to double the batch of sauce because it’s also great as a dipping sauce. And I mention two other sauces below that would go great too.

Also I used Swerve sweetener, you can just use regular brown sugar if you are not on a low carb diet. Or use your brown sugar sweetener or choice.

TIP: To make your own brown sugar substitute, mix 1 tablespoon of molasses with 1 cup of your favorite sweetener.

Chili garlic sauce is a new condiment for me and I just love it. It gives my stir fries so much flavor and you can find it in most grocery stores these days.

How to make keto Asian salmon.

If you want to season the filets first with salt and black pepper you can but I feel the salt from the soy sauce and the heat from chili sauce make up for the salt and pepper.

  1. First mix the sauce ingredients (chili garlic sauce, Swerve brown sweetener and soy sauce) together in a small mixing bowl.
  2. Spray a nonstick skillet with cooking spray and heat to medium high heat for a minute or so. If you want to season the filets first with salt and black pepper you can but I feel the salt from the soy sauce and the heat from the pepper flakes in the chili sauce make up for the salt and pepper.
  3. Next brush the salmon pieces with the sauce then place them fish skin side up in the pan and turn the heat down to a medium heat. Cook for 3-4 minutes until the filets are cooked about ⅓ of the way up from the bottom.
  4. Flip the salmon over and cook for another 3-5 minutes until they are cooked another ⅓ way up from the bottom. Cook time may vary depending on the thickness of fish.
  5. Take the salmon out of pan and let rest before serving. Store leftovers in an airtight container. (Please scroll down to view the printable recipe card.)

Since this salmon only takes such little time to make you might want a low carb side dish that takes little time too. Cauliflower rice is my go to with Asian recipes along with a little steamed broccoli or other green veggie.

Try this keto fried cauliflower rice, or this asiago cauliflower rice. Also these Asian green beans or . Or pick from all of my low carb side dishes to add to this meal.

Ingredients

  • 3 pounds fresh salmon filets
  • 1 tablespoon Swerve brown sugar sweetener
  • 2 tablespoons chili garlic sauce
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce

Instructions

  1. Mix Swerve sweetener, chili sauce and soy sauce together in a small bowl. (Note double this if you want a dipping sauce). Liberally brush on salmon filets.
  2. Heat non stick skillet to medium high. Spray with nonstick spray and then place salmon fillets skin side up in the pan. Turn heat down to medium
  3. Cook for about 4-5 minutes or until the fish is cooked about ⅓ of the way from the bottom. Cooking time may vary depending on the thickness of fish.
  4. Flip and cook for another 4-5 minutes or until done. Let rest for before serving along with the extra sauce if you make it.

Notes

Serve with cauliflower rice and a little steamed broccoli or other green vegetable if you wish. Store leftovers in an airtight container.

    have you ever tried cooking these in an air fryer? wondering what temp and how long…?

      Hi Wendy, I’m just guessing but I would shoot for about 7-10 minutes at around 400°F. You don’t want to over cook it and once you take it out it will cook a bit more when it rests. You can always under cook it and put it back in the air fryer to cook for a minute or two more.
